Core Areas

Applied Psychology

Areas such as organizational psychology, developmental psychology, and sociology can help us understand our own behavior, how people behave in groups, and how to approach organizational dynamics, whether at school or at work. Our knowledge is grounded in critical theory, family systems theory, trauma-informed practices, and social psychology.

Applied Ethics

We approach ethics from a personal and communal standpoint. Personal values guide our actions, so the more aware we are of them, the better. But we set rules, laws, and norms communally. Sometimes we act to change laws or norms that are outmoded or unfair. Disinformation makes it difficult to reach consensus, so we use rhetorical tools, such as understanding logical fallacies and the basic ethical philosophies that underlie our governmental and legal systems.

Inclusive, Trauma-Informed Practices

Adulting for Teens is an inclusive, affirming organization that adheres to evidence-based practices regarding gender, sex, race, and ability. We celebrate difference and are always striving to improve our awareness and learn new things. We don’t seek perfection; we welcome continuous learning.
